SUMMARY:Offshore Wind Supply Chain Information Session | Sydney\, Unama'ki - Cape Breton
DESCRIPTION:Join Marine Renewables Canada (MRC) for a free in-person information session on May 28th in conjunction with the Port of Sydney’s Port Days focused on opportunities in offshore wind spurred from regional and global development. \nAs offshore wind development advances globally and in Atlantic Canada\, Unama’ki – Cape Breton is emerging as a region of significant interest. With areas in the region’s offshore identified as priority areas for offshore wind activity—and the region’s advantages in port infrastructure\, strong marine capabilities\, and skilled workforce\, Unama’ki – Cape Breton is well-positioned to play a central role in this growing industry. \nThrough presentations and discussion\, this session will explore findings from the Atlantic Canada Wind Energy Supply Chain Assessment\, commissioned by MRC and led by Xodus Group. The study outlines supply chain needs\, gaps\, and opportunities for local businesses to engage in the growing offshore and onshore wind sector. \nParticipants will also learn how MRC is supporting supply chain growth through targeted initiatives and international business development activities that help companies build capacity\, access new markets\, and establish strategic partnerships. \nInformation Session Highlights \n\nThe Global and Regional Outlook: Gain perspective on the current status of offshore wind development worldwide\, and how Canada and the region fit into the picture.\nSupply Chain Needs & Opportunities: Understand where gaps exist\, what capabilities are required\, and where local suppliers can get involved.\nStrategic Pathways for Development: Explore key recommendations from the supply chain assessment on how to strengthen local participation\, grow the workforce\, and expand capabilities.\n\nWho Should Attend? \n\nLocal suppliers\, service providers\, business leaders\, and organizations with existing expertise in renewable energy\, ocean industries\, or those looking to expand into the industry.\nCommunity leaders involved in renewable energy and economic development.\nIndigenous businesses and communities looking to explore new opportunities in the rapidly growing offshore wind energy market.\n\n\nThis information session is presented by MRC\, in collaboration with the Cape Breton Partnership\, the Cape Breton Regional Municipality Regional Enterprise Network\, and the Port of Sydney. The Information session is free to attend and open to anyone interested in joining\, but seating is limited.
